Is anyone attending Wolford College this fall '08? I have an interview in May and would like to know the pros and cons of attending this school. I would appreciate any feedback .
I have read the posts...but was looking for any new suggestions or thoughts on this program. Has the school improved since those posts were posted? Is it really true?

A wolford college update: Sorry Guys but I need to vent!!! Pro's : they just bought a million plus dollar building that will require the admission of hundreds of students a year to keep financially afloat. So if u have a pulse u can probably get in. They seem to have ways to get around the standard requirements The con: they dont have enough sites. We once again r going 2 b two students per room being supervised by novice crna's with less than 3yrs exp of which most of that time has been with 1 or 2 srnas in their room with them (most have 18mths or less). Yes, there are a few crnas with 10-20 yrs as someone mentioned, but 2 of the few r in hearts, and time with them is limited and specialized. The rest of the sites r as I mentioned above. They also have a new system in place where the novice crna's who went from being a student to being with a student are now supervising 2 rooms with students at a time!! Most of these guys have less than 2 yrs exp and never do the intubations, blocks or lines because the students and anesthesiologists do them. So at what point did they become expert enough to teach me? It's a joke. U might think thats great, that the students do everything, but dont forget how many of us there are. the good news is u get to count it if u were at all involved; thus the high numbers on quantity of procedures done. The other weird thing is that the anesthesia monitors are linked to the anesthesiologist office/lounge and everyone has walkie-talkies so the anesthesiologist tells the crnas and srnas what to do and not do over these radios from their office. However: after all is done: so far : the wolford students do graduate, pass their exams, and get great jobs .Just like every other anesthesia program. So it still can be as someone said: whatever u make it. At this point I would have preferred a smaller program with experienced crnas who have some autonomy and responsibilities. These crnas have none! The crnas should be our role models and mentors (not the anesthesiologist) They have 1 anesthesia tech for all the sites in the hospital which is not a problem because they have srnas and crnas 2 get equipment, stock the carts, transport patients and clean the rooms. This experience thus far has been money not well spent; as u know the cost of anesthesia school is outrageous. This program is overcrowded, the people teaching and supervising us are inexperienced at both giving and teaching anesthesia ; and the hospital considers us free labor; resulting in a diluted learning experience. Fully accredited!! u might want to check on that as well. Apparently they only have some of the credentials needed to make our credits transferrable to other universities for PHD,DNP,specialized certificates etc. Is anyone else out there being supervised by a crna running 2 rooms at once and if so what is their exp level? Known as QZ some kind of billing code.
