Will this affect admission?

I am just wondering if having a GED and no high school diploma will affect getting admitted to become a CRNA? Right now I am an LPN and will be starting classes in the fall for RN (associates) then will start for BSN. Just wondering if that will automatically disqualify me. Thanks

Re: Will this affect admission?

I dropped out of high school during my wild teen years. Subsequently, I got my GED. I worked hard as an undergrad, made excellent grades, got into a CTS ICU at a large & well known teaching hospital & got great experience, & was accepted to the one and only anesthesia program to which I applied. I'm now a senior SRNA & will graduate 10 1/2 months from now. You can do it. Don't let having a GED make you feel that you can't compete.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! I didn't know if schools look down on people for things that happened, in my case 20 years ago.

Re: Will this affect admission?

At some point, high school transcripts become much less important. I think GEDs are viewed SOOOO much differently now, in this age of online schools and distance learning programs (and this is a good thing!). So I agree with the others - YOU CAN DO IT - don't let it stop you at all.

I know I couldn't have taken an equivalency exam like that when I was that age; what you did was a LOT harder than just sitting in class IMO!!!

Re: Will this affect admission?

I doubt your HS education will ever be addressed. Good luck.
