Hey guys, I'm a NICU nurse and have been since becoming an RN two years ago. Just found out a couple weeks ago that I got accepted (YEH!!!) to CAMC in West Virginia and was wondering what kind of things I should look over prior to starting school in June. I have no experience as an RN with adults and am afraid I may be behind those who do (no ACLS, not much experience w/arrythmias, etc.) Any suggestions?

I am preparing to begin school in August. I just finished reading "Watchful Care" great book about the history of CRNAs up til the late 80s. You can get the book from amazon.com or the aana website. I am reviewing "Basics of Anesthesia" just to get a feel for things. It is required text for my school anyways.
I am willing to bet that you will learn all you need in school. Do you have to have ACLS and PALS prior to school starting?

We don't have to have ACLS or PALS "prior to" starting. I assume that will taken care of once we begin. I am NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certified. Thanks for the reply. I'll have to check out those books. I'm sure they'll make sure we know what we need to know. I just always like to feel prepared. Good luck in August and congratulations!!!
