Maybe I'm the only one, or the only one dumb enough to post, but I interviewed at 3 schools this past year after having applied to 4 and didn't get accepted to any of them. So I'm a second-time-arounder. After all the time, effort, and energy I put into applying last year it was very disheartening to not get in. All of my past supervisors, as well as many co-workers and physicians think I'm a great nurse and happily given me great references. I have decent grades and have done everything the schools requested of applicants. For me it came down to interviewing skills. I have a shy personality. Something I have to fight to overcome. Some would say not very out-going although I am focused and goal-oriented. Sound stupid? I'm working on re-applying to my top 2 choices for CRNA school. I've studied like crazy for the interview questions so the answers will flow. Anyone else working on re-apps?

It happens, I think the interview is a huge part of every program. I would reapply to the school you got the best feed back from and apply to 2 new schools. Call the schools and find out what you could have done better.

If anything the 3 interviews ahve made you a stronger person and you will show that next time around

Keep on trying. Those first interviews will set you up well for the ones to follow. At least you got to the interview phase! That's really encouraging. I felt like I bombed my first few interviews too. I sent another round of apps out and bingo! My first experiences really helped me!

What it boiled down to me was that I had too much inner dialog going on during the interviews...overanalyzing what I just said...That will make you crazy. Just be real with yourself. Talk in the shower until what you say makes sense to you and is nothing but the bare truth. Don't try to "sound smart" or anything.

Just keep going regardless. Your personality will resonate with someone at one of these schools, believe me. It's just a matter of time.

I think they look favorably on people who don't give up. Shows you want it and are willing to do what it takes. I'm a little shy myself and I agree that rehearsing answers to interview questions is very good. I wrote notes and read them over on the plane, before bed the night before, etc.

Thanks for the encouragement. You can bet that I'll keep on trying until someone lets me in. This is what I want to do with my life and I'll make sure the schools know I won't give up.

Keep trying. I applied to more than I would be proud to acknowledge-like to think that my age was a major detractor. Bottom line-I got accepted to a school that I absolutely fell in love with during the interview process. They were warm, friendly and not intimidating. The hospital where we will be doing our clinicals is exactly the same-so you will find your niche....
