resume

I have 1 1/2 year experience in ICU at one hospital and now I am doing my resume to apply for NA school, I am having a hard time putting together a good resume because I only worked at one hospital so the resume looks empty. Besides my work experience and schooling what else should I put in my resume to make it more appealing?? Hope someone could help. THanks.

Re: resume

Hi! I would include certifications and volunteer work.
Good luck!

Re: resume

Thanks Redhen, I forgot about that. I worked other jobs when I was in school but it has nothing to do with nursing, should I include those in my work experience or only nursing jobs?

Re: resume

Why so concerned about the resume? They didn't seem to care one way or another about my resume during the interviews. I wouldn't worry about it.

Re: resume

Absolutely add your jobs that you wroked while in nursing school, because it shows that you can handle working with nursing school. As we all know, nursing school is very demanding and if you have good grades and worked as well, then that is a plus.

Re: resume

I totally agree. if you do not have any other nursing jobs than put down what you did for jobs while in nursing school. Also, dont get too bogged down to much with the resume. Put alot more effort into your essay...it will help out more in the long run.

Just one mans opinion

Hi! I'm glad that info was helpfull. If the work experience had nothing to do with nursing (like fast food or retail--don't laugh, I did that when I was earning my undergraduate degree)--then no- I would not include them. If it was volenteer work or working with children (teacher's aide) then I would include it. I hope this helps.

Re: resume

If you are a member of any nursing organizations I would also add that to your resume. Did you receive any awards or honors in nursing school? Hope this may help a little.
