Debate concerning the reliability and validity of Wikipedia has been ongoing for sometime. However, several peer-reviewed studies have been conducted and results have shown that Wikipedia comes close to Encyclopedia Britannica in terms of accuracy.

Here are a couple articles, fyi:

Rosenzweig, R. (2006). "Can History be Open Source? Wikipedia and the Future of the Past". The Journal of American History, 93, 117–146.

But you're right, the information regarding CRNA's may or may not be accurate.

Nikki,
I too got into a CRNA program with only 5months experience at my time of interview. One thing that you have going for you is graduating in december which means that you will have almost 1 year experience maybe more by the time of interview.

Question for those of you who quickly got in CRNA school: What do you think "did" it for you? Was it grades, recommendations, experience other than nursing, the school? I'm sure it is a combination of several things but what do you think you had that made you stand out?

I was writing a paper for school about euthanasia and physician assisted suicide, and article in Wikipedia did not even had a correct definitions of the terms. I lost my trust in it forever.

KsMICT-
I had a little over 1 year of experience before I applied and interviewed. I applied to 4 schools and got into 2. I truely believe that the interview is the most important part of the process. Most of the people who apply have similar backgrounds. The thing that sets you as an individual apart from the rest is the interview. I studied for and took my CCRN certification exam only a month before my interviews so that the info would be fresh on my mind. I really think this helped me with the interview questions. Good luck.

Exactly. There's a huge difference in exchanging ideas on a message board versus searching for accurate information. Wikipedia is not a reliable souce at all.

I am currently waiting to hear about my alternate status after applying and being granted an interview, but not being accepted right away after only one year, well it will be one year and 2 months once school would start. good luck to you!

I applied only Evanston Northwestern and got accepted. I will be doing this part time and will have about 27 months before I start the clinicals.
