Question Prerecs for School

Hello everyone!

I am new to these boards, but what a great wealth of information! I am currently in an accelerated BSN program, and will be graduating with my BSN in a little over a year. I am very interested in becoming a CRNA, and I was wondering what additional classes are required for school? Thanks so much!

Well, you probably already know that the degree will lead to an Masters in nursing, and that means taking the GRE. I'd spend some time preparing for the GRE, and studying the individual schools to so what they want in applicants.
Sorry I can't give you other details, other than just what I know. I also believe they want you to have time in ICU, but I could be wrong.

Best of luck to you!

The degree obtained for anesthesia school is not necessarily a nursing masters (there are both MS and MSN anesthesia programs), and the GRE is definitely not required by all schools, though it is by some. No offense meant, BabyRN2Be, but please be careful about offering definitive answers to questions asked by anesthesia hopefuls if you don't have true definitive answers to give. The path to anesthesia school has enough hurdles, and it just makes it harder if folks are receiving the wrong information in their quest to join the anesthesia ranks.

CoCo612, every program has their own specific requirements for prerequisite classes and admission requirements. Before entering anesthesia school, I had to take physics & grad stats. If my other science classes (A&P I and II and 2 semesters of chem) had been a little bit older, I would have had to retake those as well. I did not have to take the GRE, because it isn't required by my program. Check out the admission requirements of the schools you are interested in attending. You can find a list of accredited programs at www.aana.com.

Good luck,
Lou
