Job options for New Grad

What would you do??....

Competitive critical care job market in the area, offered a position in med/surg ICU of magnet teaching hospital with 2 yr commitment. However, only occasional invasive monitoring, little dialysis, varying acuity & census. My direction up till now has been cardiac, including 200+ hours upcoming senior clinical in cardiac SICU. I love hemodynamics and the toys.

Would you jump on the offer? Or, wait to see if any cardiac positions become available later? (I finish my BSN in 2 months and have time/money flexibility post-graduation) Is cardiovascular experience a benefit to S/CRNAs or is it the sick pts? Do you think--in the end--it matters what kind of ICU experience you have?

Thanks!

Re: Job options for New Grad

I'd just get into any ICU that I felt I could learn.....keep in mind, the experience is what counts, and you can always transfer to another ICU. Just choose the best ICU that fits you best.
