Hi guys,
I'm waiting for my acceptance to a BSN program in the California State University system. I'm a little curious about what kinds of additional preparation, experience, grades, and test scores I'll need to have to get into a CRNA program.
So far, so good: straight A's for the last 2 years in all the nursing prerequisite classes... 91.2 on the TEAS. Science is easy for me and I don't think nursing school will be anything I can't ace, either. What grades to CRNA programs look at when they consider applicants? The reason I ask is because I had some rough spots in my early college career... a couple years of uncertainty left some nasty grades, but nothing TOO serious. Do you think this gets any consideration, or is it the actual nursing school GPA that matters?
Also, what kinds of classes would you guys suggest for preparing for CRNA school? Physics, chemistry, math, biochemistry, what? I've taken Micro, A&P, general chemistry, intro to organic, and some general bio classes... but I'm wondering what else I should take.

If you have solid grades in the sciences and continue to ace those nursing courses you'll be fine. As far as additional classes, you'll need a course in statistics for a lot of CRNA programs. An actual pharmacology class would be a plus also. Other than that you're pretty much set. Remember, classes and grades are but one piece of the puzzle when it comes to navigating the admissions process for CRNA programs. Quality and quantity of your clinical experience, certifications, letters of rec, and of course the interview with the admissions panel.

Good luck and keep your nose to the grind stone. It's a long journey to say the least.
