Financing

Yes I have read the other post. The thing from other posts that strikes me the most is where it says to borrow what you need up front as you will have no proof of income later (since U R not working) and will require someone to cosign otherwise.

Question is: Do you try to borrow say $100,000 from a single loan up front for school and living expenses or do you get a couple of loans equalling this amount originating around the same time?

Thanks

Re: Financing

I borrowed 44,000 upfront from one lender, most lenders that would cut a check directly to me and not send it to the school had a limit of between 40-45k. My lender is sallie mae, I called them and asked them if next year I need another 45k could I borrow it or would I need a cosigner since I am single and no longer employed, they told me that as long as I had good credit I would not need a cosigner and that I could borrow more. Keep in mind that you also are eligible for federal loans up to 18,500 each year. So between the 44,000, the federal 18,500 and a stipend from the hospital I plan to work for I am making it and not eating ramen noodles
