East Carolina University CRNA program

I am new to this site and i am just kicking myself that i did not discover this site before interviewing at SMU (MN). Long story short, the interview sucked and i did not get in i am on the wating list. I have another interview coming up at ECU and i want to make sure the same thing does not happen. anyone out there who has interviewed and can give me a few pointers about the interview process. I would greatly appreciate this.

Thanks. Keep up the good work, again I love this site.

look at this thread at Eastern Carolina, ECU CRNA2B covers the interview process. Let me know if you have any specific questions that pertain to the program.

Re: East Carolina University CRNA program

Looked at the thread very helpful. The only thing I was wondering do they ask about drugs, vent management, Pa catheter and such during the interview. I am a nervous wreck right now. I am reading anything i can get my hand on.

Did you interview at ECU?

Again thanks for the reply.

Re: East Carolina University CRNA program

I am already in the program.
If I were you I would not stress too much about the clinical questions. I didn't not experience intense drilling of clincial scenarios that others have experienced in other interviews.
Probably the best way to prepare is to think about a complex patient in your unit and your actions in situations when things are not going good with your patient. Stick to the basics, there is really no way that you can predict what may be asked clinically, just stick to your population that you care for. What you can prepare for is conveying to the committee on how prepared you are to start the biggest challenge of your life.

Re: East Carolina University CRNA program

Does anyone know how many students apply, interview and are accepted at East Carolina University. I heard that they only accept 10 people. Does anyone know different?

Re: East Carolina University CRNA program

Up until this year it was 12, it is now 14 people admitted per year. The number that apply is not revealed for specific reasons that if it was thought that it was difficult to get in the number of applicants may decrease. The number of applicants is really irrelevent in the whole process. Obviously it is tougher to get in with the number that is admitted compared to other programs.

Re: East Carolina University CRNA program

ECU's program is full time, no part time option. I think that UNC-Charlotte has a part-time option. I think that if I were you I would go full-time. If it is money that you are worried about just take out what you need in the form of loans. I just don't think trying to go to CRNA school even part-time and having to worry about working is a good option if that is what your plan is. I am sure some have pulled it off but I don't think I could, but that is just me.
