I am currently a nursing student and will be graduating this December. I would like to enter CRNA school someday and want to start of on the right track. I have been offered a position in a CVICU at St. Luke's in Houston, but was wondering if I should try and get into a CVRR instead. I'm not exactly straight on the difference between the units and was looking for some advice. Thanks.

This is merely what I glean from your unit initials.
CVRR = cardiovascular recovery room?
vs.
CVICU = cardiovascular intensive care
Most programs prefer the ICU experience, and discount recovery room or PACU experience. If you want to be "appealing" to CRNA programs, probably the ICU route is better.

Longhorn333, CVRR at St Luke's will be your best bet because most nurses that work there and apply to CRNA schools are granted admissions. Nevertheless any ICU EXPERIENCE at sT LUKE'S hOSPITAL is highly weighed at most CRNA schools because its one of the best tertiary and teaching hospital in the nation. In CVRR you're exposed to pts with baloon pumps, swan ganz, lvads and all kinds of pressors and you have the privilege to work side by side with the some of the best physicians in the world.
