My first attempt at nursing wasn't successful. I took some time off and went back to nursing school and graduated as Magna Cum Laude. Should I elaborate more about it on my professional statement? Help!

Hide nothing (--but that doesn't require you to voluntarily reveal everything.) Just find a way to express it all in a positive way.

I hit several bumps in the road my first go 'round in school. Got my head screwed on straight, did well, and got into anesthesia school. I wasn't even asked about those less than stellar years. You may be. Be honest. If you learned from your earlier mistakes, tell them about it. Honesty over all else. Good luck!

Couldn't agree more. If you bring the skeletons out of the closet and let everyone know that you learned from your mistakes, then you will never have to worry about the skeletons being pulled out and used to beat you.

Thank you all for the positive insights. I am confident about my skills as a critical care nurse. I have no doubt about my qualifications as a CRNA. I just hope the admissions committee see that.
