Considering CRNA, I need advice...

I would love to become a CRNA, but I suck at certain types of math. I just do not get algebra, I struggled and barely made it through. I can do 'nursing' math and I used to be a bookkeeper/accountant. Something about all those x's just melts my brain.

So before I start trying to make becoming a CRNA a reality, I would love some input on the reality of math in the program.

Thanks ahead of time.

the math isn't that bad but the physics equations can be a killer

Look up Fick's law of diffusion, The equation for laminar flow through a tube should get you started.

Re: Considering CRNA, I need advice...

Aside from the question about math in a CRNA program...It sounds like you have a math phobia. If you used to be a bookkeeper, then you have basic math down and it doesn't scare you right? But the algebra and abstract math does throw you.

My advice, which is based on personal experience, is to take a remedial algebra class at a local college. You may not get any credit for it but they will start out slow and you can go to the tutoring center. Build your math base on a firm foundation of understanding before you try to tackle college algebra.

Chemistry and physics math is a step up to be sure but not undoable if you have a foundation for it. I wouldn't look at any advanced equations yet. It will just scare you and you don't neet that at this point.
