CCU for CRNA school?

I have recently accepted a CCU position in a large teaching hospital. The unit deals with alot of patients on vasoactive drips, vents, IABPs, invasive hemodynamic monitoring and CRRT, although none of the patients are postsurgical. I will be graduating with my BSN and a cumulative 4.0gpa. With this experience and my grades is it reasonable to plan on applying to CRNA school next December? Thanks.

Absolutely. Though IMHO, more experience in years would be better.

Just my .02.... I would call (or email) the director of the program and find out straight from the horses mouth. That way, you can know whether or not you're wasting your time.

CCU experience worked fine for me. Give yourself time to get and hone experience. Being exposed to something several times should not be considered replacement for understanding the whys and hows. Get your feet wet, pick up the heavy assignments (once you're oriented and competent), take your time learning and understanding. Good luck to you!
