anatomy and physiology

i am planning to apply for nurse anesthesia program but it's been 9 yrs since i took my Anat. and Physiology. The community college close to where i live offers 2 A&Ps. The first one is Human Anatomy and Physiology -uses cadavers. The second is, Human Physiological Anatomy-uses cats for lab. Both are accepted as prerequisite . If anesthesia program requires gross anatomy on the curriculum which one will help me more if i get into the program. pls. help! anyone? thanks!

Re: anatomy and physiology

I would buy Clinical Anesthesiology by Morgan and Mikhail and study the physiology chapters and save my money.

Re: anatomy and physiology

Check with the school you're interested in and see if your old A&P is still good. If it hasn't expired, I wouldn't retake a class I didn't need to either. However, if they're making you retake it, I'd definitely take the cadaver course - I was in one until Katrina flooded my school, and it's a great way to learn about the human body. If I wanted to cut open a cat, I'd go to vet school.

Re: anatomy and physiology

Your first semester of CRNA will consist of very heavy intense advanced A&P anyway, so I agree...save your money. It's been 19 years since I took A&P!

Ha! Well, if you don't get into anesthesia school you could always be a comedian!!! You're very right.......some of the CRNA programs are using cadavers for their gross anatomy class.
