I am a 26 year old male.. I finally figured out what I want to do with my life but I feel like I am to old .... My goal is to become CRNA after I get my BSN but it just seems so far away... I mean I will be like 32 or 33 before I can start my life.....
Ok and I know this sounds stupid coming from a guy and all but I want to start a family before that age ya know?

Can anyone give me some advice I just feel like I got way to late of a start to become a crna..

Not at all! Just focus on the baby steps My two year ADN program felt like it would never end, but time really does just fly by. And the next 10 years will pass whether you pursue your goal or not. Good luck!

I am a 34 y.o. F and am just graduating from BSN program. I too struggle with the issues of being too old, wanting a family, life, etc. Still don't know what I'm going to do.

But.... you are still very young and have lots of time to work all that out. I say go for it. It is better to do it now than trying to do it with kids. (I have one, and it is hard even right now). You will be 33 in 7 years either way.

You're NOT too old. I'm 46, will graduate an accel BSN program this August, and plan to go for CRNA a couple years down the road.

I started my BSN program at 27 (previous degree, took three years to do prereqs and Jr & Sr year), started the Army anesthesia nursing program at 32, graduated the USAGPAN as a CRNA at 35, been working as a CRNA since Jan 2000, now 43.

When is it too late? I got married at 35 and (again) at 42.

Start now. It only gets better as you get older, but you're sometimes too tired to enjoy it (unless you can afford as housekeeper 8))

You're only too old if you think you're too old! I didn't even become an RN until age 32. I finished my BA at age 34 and now at 35 with a wife and four kids am applying to CRNA school. It can be done. I completed all of my nursing education while married with four children.

If you want it bad enough, you can make it!!!!


Like others have said before, life will go on, whether you are a CRNA or an RN. Do you really want to look back in ten years and wish you had done it, or at least tried?? I hope I never think I'm too old to do new things!

Im going to go for it.. I have made up my mind and gonna do it... I will be done with my bsn right around 30 so thats not bad then Im gonna fo for my crna.. I really appreciate everyone telling me how they did it... It helps knowing Im not the only person going through this.

Your right I dont what I was thinking.. I guess its because I saw all of my friends graduating college buying houses etc... An Im just getting ready to begin my journey... PLus i was hoping to have a gamily before then ya know? But it will all work out.

I just started my program and the oldest person in my class is 48. I just turned 37 last month...who cares...its just a number. People have kids and buy houses at any age nowadays. Besides 32 is young! and dont focus on what others are doing.....


If you want something bad enough...nothing else really matters...just do it. Life is gonna pass by anyway regardless if you decide to go to school or not go.
