Thumbs up Accepted to U. of Cincinnati!

Hello All,

A buddy of mine from my ICU in Salt Lake City, UT and I were both accepted to University of Cincinnati (just found out today) for Fall '08.

Anyone out there who will be our future classmate(s)?

One more side note...my acceptance letter from the director was placed into my "Spam" file by AOL...this may be a good time to check your "Spam-box" if you too are waiting and have not heard anything(my wife actually caught that for me--kudos to her).

Congrats to everyone who is starting everywhere soon and good luck to all of you who are in the process of applying anywhere!

Bryan

Re: Accepted to U. of Cincinnati!

Congratulations!!!!!

UC seems like an excellent program. I, too was accepted . Have you applied elsewhere, or is UC your first choice?

It certainly is a good feeling... Enjoy Turkey Day, and have a blast telling everyone!

Re: Accepted to U. of Cincinnati!

Quiet1,
I saw in past posts you were accepted last year to UC. Are you a current student there (or somewhere else) or did you defer admission til Fall '08?

Re: Accepted to U. of Cincinnati!

I was accepted last year and was unable to attend. I did not realize that I could defer, so I had to reapply to get accepted again for this year. I have to say that the e-mail this year was just as exciting as it was last year!

Re: Accepted to U. of Cincinnati!

Quiet1,
Well, welcome future classmate of mine! I am originally from Ohio (living in Utah now)--feel free to comiserate on the move and etc.'s. I have some great resources in Cinci and for info r/t the program. It is hard to know when the best time is to pull the trigger on starting; life is so complicated that NO TIME seems like a GOOD TIME. There was alot of debate at my house whether to wait another year--my wife is in her second year of Law School, we are both in our mid-30's, we have a 2-yr-old at home, and baby #2 is due in May '08--we will need friends! But we have committed ourselves to the idea that it is better for me to start in '08 regardless. My buddy from work who will be starting with us is a great guy (married, 2 kids ages 3 and 4), you will love him. Feel free to PM me if you care to exchange email/phone #'s. I hope some more of our class responds to this thread so we can at least loosely affiliate. It is my view that the competition is over and that there is no room for rugged individualists in a program as demanding as what we are getting involved with--a big measure of success for me is that we all become good friends and all finish with our families (and sanity) intact.

Re: Accepted to U. of Cincinnati!

Quiet1,
I forgot to answer your previous questions:
1) I have an application pending at Westminster College here in Salt Lake City--no interviews until like Feb. '08--it is my second choice out of neccessity and I see it as a "just in case" scenario. It is a newer program and is fraught with potential complications--the clinical sites are mostly in other states etc., plus it is pricey even for CRNA school. However, it is mostly front-loaded and the didactic portion on campus is like 1.25 miles from my house. If my wife was not tied to Law School at U. of Utah, Westminster would not have likely made my top 5-7 list. UC became available to me only because my wife can transfer credit from UC's Law School back to Utah (she will be only 17 sem hrs short of her degree when we start in Fall '08 (she has been working ahead).
2) The ironic beauty in this whole situation for me UC would still be my top choice in any year because of the strength of the clinical component, the track record of the program, and the fact that we will have 4 sets of parents/step-parents within 1-2 hrs. drive to help us out when need be.
3) Gonzaga in Spokane, WA would have been #2 but when I got the interview at UC I decided to just see how things were going to go (they start in Jan. and I was not excited about trying to sell my house over winter and move two young kids over mountains in Dec.--plus it is a tiny program with a grueling interview process ). I was also seriously looking at a school near Asheville, NC (Western Carolina) because it had a Jan. start date too. I had another short list of schools that start in May/June (all based on start dates to facilitate getting going). But hey...UC is win win win for me

Hello! I am new to this site so forgive me if I am not replying the right way!! I have been doing some research in becoming a crna. I have been a RN for a year this June of 2008 however, I have almost 5 years of experience at a level one trauma center called Wishard in Indy. I started out as a care tech in 2003 working my way up to my current position. I have experience in just about everything! I had 2 years icu experience as a student and now almost a year as a RN in icu. I am interested in attending Univ of Cinn and was wondering if you could give me any tips, info advice? I have no idea how I even start as far as applying and the tests I need to take? Gre, CCRN?? Pre req's? I would appreciate any advice! I noticed you applied to the school in 07 for the 08 class? So if I applied this 08 would that mean if I was accepted I would attend the 09 class?? When can I apply in o8? Thanks in advance for the help!! Katlin, RN. BSN
