Smile yay!

I am almost done with my 6 week orientation and it is awesome!

I work in a surgical floor where I see all types of surgeries, and it is awesome.
My preceptors are awesome, I have 2. both do things differently. but I guess it's a good thing to have a 2 different points of view to do things, then I will find my own way to do things. >--- that is the way I am looking at it.
I have my whole team of patients which vary from 4-6 patients per shift.

I am a cryer... so I get very emotional if I get reprimanded for something, or the way people talk to me... idk, but so far, I have not cried which is a great great great thing.
I love it here (lol, I am at work right now!)

It gets busy sometimes, if we get an admission at 6am, + doing meds, and checking my pts IV rates... or if a parent refuses meds, or if I have bleeding... need I say more.

But I realized that even though my peds teacher scared me away from pediatrics, I know that this is where I want to be, I love what I do, I could not think of anything else that I should be doing with my life anymore. This is it. I love this career. It's hard. But it is my calling

Re: yay!

I have one more week with the preceptor. and honest, I can't wait to be on my own.
I love the floor where I work. I did rotations this past week in the OR got out early and went to the floor to help the nurses out. And I started IVF, antibiotics.... and they were so thankful. THey love me on the floor.
I love my job!!!!!!!

Re: yay!

Excellent! So glad to hear you are loving it!

My first month on my own was really tough and several nights I drove home crying. I am at 8 months on my own now and am starting to feel much more comfortable/confident/capable.

Hope all continues to go smoothly.

I am also in awe of anyone who can work with kids. (and I am a mom).

Thanks for all you do and will do!

Re: yay!

That's so great that you have found an area you love. I am going to apply to do my BSN this year and will start in 2009. I was accepted last year but could not attend so here I go again. I am already stressed about where to apply if I am lucky enough to even get that far. Anyways, it's just inspiring to read your posts. Keep us updated.
