Question When is the best time for New Grad to move on to another hospital?

I travel to new york every weekend to see my family, the trip can take 8-10 hours. I love my family and I love work. But I feel sad and sick to my stomach working knowing that my family needs me. When is the best time for a new grad to move on? I've been there for almost 8 months. Please help. Thank you.

Re: When is the best time for New Grad to move on to another hospital?

If your family needs you - then go to be with them. And believe me, when the time comes, you aren't going to be saying "gee, I wish I would've spent more time at work". Sure work is good, but your family is important to you and if it's causing illness.....it's time to be with your family.

Do some research, find a place close to your family and one that will meet your needs and apply!!!

Go for it, and people wonder why there is a shortage b/c nursing can be worrisome.

I also think 8 months are okay enough to leave.

I agree 8 months is ok...I also think you have valid reasons.

8 months is a little short than the ideal one year, but you are leaving for nonwork related reasons!

Under your circumstances, there's nothing unreasonable about leaving now.

Good luck!
