well, now I'm really scared....

After reading all of the other recent posts, I am questioning my decision not to go to med surg or even a hospital as a new RN. I accepted a position in an endoscopy center, 40 hours a week, no weekends, holidays or nights. Although I do want to eventually be doing something totally different (L&D), I fell in love with the staff, fast-pace, and opportunity to get ACLS cert. when I shawdowed. Anyone have any thoughts?

I agree - that sounds like a dream job! I would LOVE those hours. You should go for it. You can always do something different in the future, if you choose. Best of luck to you in your new career

I spent a day in Endoscopy during my clinicals and loved it. I think you made a great decision. How lucky to not have to work weekends or holidays! Good for you!

 Heather--
You have the whole rest of your life to acquire burnout and hate your job...why start now? I'm only half kidding. Yes, i'm sure working the med/surg floor right out of school would have been good for me, too. Kinda like eating my vegetables. Don't sweat it, hon. Just remember that you work to live...don't live to work.

You really lucked out as a new grad. You'll get some good skills though, including your ACLS.
