Things you wish you knew before starting new job.....

Hi,

What do you wish you knew before you started your first acute care job?

There has been a couple of years since I graduated and I am sure there are a lot of things I have forgotten. What should I study, make notes of or what books out there do you recommend I get to help me get prepared for the acute care setting? Thanks for your answers, and God bless!

You need to be more specific......"acute care setting" is just too broad of a topic. Acute ortho, trauma, neuro, respiratory, renal, oncology, gen med, gen surg, ......

Have you looked to see if there's a nurse refresher course offered locally?

Medical surgical is more of what I was thinking.

The refresher course will not work with my schedule, and a little too pricey for me right now.
