Power Port!

I learned something new yesterday that I would like to share with other newbies. I attempted to access a port yesterday on a cancer patient with the normal Huber needle. I got a bit of blood back, but it just didn't feel right going in. I stopped and called in an experienced nurse. She told me that the type of port I had was a "Power Port" and that it is in the shape of a triangle, requiring a special needle. I had only seen the circle ports before for which I used the standard Huber needle. I had nooo idea!! Hope this helps someone else from making this mistake!
