Re: NEW RNs!!!!

I had a 27th birthday very recently, so I'm a few years older than you. I'm originally from Southern California, as I was born and raised in Ventura County (Oxnard). I moved away from CA a little over 2 years ago.

You may like our California Nurses forum: www.Allnurses.com/forums/f137/

And congratulations on accomplishing your BSN degree!

I am 20 years old and a registered nurse...the youngest at my hospital...I enjoy it. I have strived and worked hard to get where i am today and i think as long as you are a competant and safe nurse age does not matter

I do not think that you are too young for nursing.
Most people finish their 4 year college degree at 22.

The average nursing student age is 30, but that is because it is a second career for them, or perhaps they had families or had to work.

Re: NEW RNs!!!!

Hello, I am 27 years old and have my Associates as a RN, I just finished my first year in nursing. I worked on a med/surg floor on graveyard shift to get started and I just got a position in an ED on days. I am going today to apply for my BSN and the school I went to is accelerated and I had my ASN in 15 months and should have my BSN in less than a year.

Re: NEW RNs!!!!

Hi I'm 22 years old and was hired on to a peds hem/onc unit. I was a transfer student and didn't realize i was transferring into an ASN program. I was one of the youngest in my program and most were extremely rude to me about my age and the fact that I want to get my PNP straight after getting my BSN (which I have 3 semesters left).

Re: NEW RNs!!!!

A friend of mine was out on the floor at 19. She started out as an LPN. She's now an RN working on her BSN. There were times when patients looked up and nearly fainted seeing such a young girl as their nurse. What's funny about all that is she was and still is an incredibly strong nurse.

Age makes no difference. I started my first career as a professional still photographer in film at the age of 16. Skill and luck were my best friends back then. That and lying about my age.

Good luck to you all! Hope you all have long and rewarding careers in nursing!

Re: NEW RNs!!!!

I've been a RN for about 7 months now. I'm 22 years old from Alabama! Most people tell me I look about 14-16. So I get asked when I'm gonna graduate all the time.
