New nurses please advise :-)

Hi,

I have a question for the new nurses out there. How much of AP I & II are you expected to remember when you start nursing school? The reason I am asking is because where I am at there is a three year wait to get into the nursing school and I am worried that by the time my number is called I will have forgotten a lot of what I learned in these two classes. Are you expected to remember most of what was learned? I'm really worried about this as I still have about a two year wait and I will be finishing up 202 at the end of the summer and I have already forgotten some of what was presented in 201! Please advise!!

Thank you!!

Re: New nurses please advise :-)

student nurse 3, you'll go over a lot of A&P (both) in nursing classes as review. You'll go into more detail. It will be a recall for you and you'll be fine. for example, You'll learn how diuretic meds work in the kidneys in the loops, etc. I think you will be fine. It will be a review for you. Good luck and keep a positive attitude!

Re: New nurses please advise :-)

Hi there, just from my experience, I took A & P I/II in 1998/1999. I didn't apply to NS until 2005, so my school required me to take an A & P refresher course due to how old my A & P was. I was sooo scared because I didn't want to fail and I thought I forgot way too much stuff. Surprisingly I remembered more than I thought and I got a 4.0 in the refresher course. I won't begin my actual nursing classes until Fall 2007, so if I can do it, anyone can. Hope this was helpful to say the least.

Honestly, not very much, you need to know the basics of A&P, but not indepth things like, you know those hard to pronounce and spell words. You mostly need to understand physiology more than anatomy. like how all of the body systems relate to one another.
