Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Hi girls,
I just started my work. Orientation will be 4 to 6 wks. I will work on a subacute floor. My floor focus on the pulmonary care. I was 100% sure that I passed the test immediately after taking the computer test (boards). But I am so unsure about my future work. So nervous!

Nice to join the big family here. Hope everybody good luck starting the new work.

Hi Everyone!

I waited to post here until I saw it on my state's board of nursing website.... my name with my brand new RN license number next to it! Sweeeet! I took the NCLEX on July 10 and passed with 75. It's been a stressful couple of months between scary clinical instructors during my final rotation to studying, studying, and more studying for finals and NCLEX, but it's finally over. Now I look forward to starting my 16 week orientation on a med-surg floor as a new grad RN - I can't wait!

You will be just fine. Just pay close attention to the breath sounds and pt's skin color, size of pupils, and if something seems fishy act on it right away. After awhile it will be old hat just never treat as such. I worked on a subacute floor and loved it. Good luck.

Don't get too excited. Med-Surg floors are very busy most of the time. Watch out for a wild ride! Good luck.

Thanks - I will. I'm still excited, but I should clarify that I am also anxious and nervous. I have, however, been working on the tele floor of the same hospital for the past year as a CNA - talk about a wild ride! The med-surg floors are relatively calm compared to that.

Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Hi Everyone!

I've been a nurse for 9 months now. I work in a nursing home on the Outer Banks. At first I did not want to work in a nursing home because I felt I'd gain more experience on a med/surg floor at our hospital. But right after graduation the hospital wasnt hiring LPNs. My experience at the nursing home as been great! We have more IV's, g-tubes and catheters than I can handle sometimes. Its been great to keep my skills up while learning how to juggle being a charge nurse. Look forward to my time on allnurses.com.

Hi Everyone!!

I took my boards on July 15 and passed with 75 questions. I have an interview for a grad nurse internship med/surg position. I want to start at a med/surg level for the skills I need to hone. I am both nervous and excited.

Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

I took my boards in June and passed with 75 Questions! (woot woot)

I started a job on July 7 in the PCU in an evening position.

I am slightly overwhelmed but yet excited and happy all at the same time.

I am a single mom....so I worry what I will do with my kidlettes on the holidays I know I will have to work.

At the same time I am thrilled that I was able to accomplish my dream. After a 12 hour shift in the day, I went to get some Chinese food. I was so tired I could barely count change and I apologized. The lady said but look you are so happy and you have a big smile on your face.

It sounds silly but all of a sudden I realized that she was right!

I am hoping all will go well....and it is a pleasure to meet you all.

Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Hi All,

I am brand new as well, I passed NCLEX on July 14th. I am working as a medsurge nurse in a small hospital in North Carolina. So far so good. I love what I am doing and look forward to beginning this journey with all of you. God bless us all as we begin our new lives as nurses.

Try working on a subacute floor if and when you tired of the long term floor. It also offers more great experience you would not think you would be able to get working in a nursing home. Congrats!
