There will be good days and bad ones, you'll have time where you ask yourself what you've gotten yourself into, but there are also times when you touch that one patient in a special way, or you get that thank you from a patient who really appreciated what you've done for them, and you know that what you're doing is worth all the hardship you're putting yourself though.
I took the NCLEX May 05, 2005 and went to work at a LTC facitlity for chronically ill and dying children on May 17. I worked a total of 147 hours last payday (16th-31st)

I was standing at my med-cart Saturday night at 11:30 drawing up my meds, thinking I must be the only stupid nurse on this planet for working all of these ungodly hours, when someone that I take care of quite a bit on another wing came up to me in his wheelchair with his dad. He said, "Dad, this is Kim, she is the only nurse they have hired in quite a while who actually has a brain" I told him I would definately take that as a compliment, then he said something that almost made me cry, but swell with pride at the same time....he said, "Well, I know that you really care about me" That answered the question I had just asked my self while standing there completely. I swore I would NEVER work pediatrics when I graduated, didn't like it, but it's the first job I applied for...go figure

Maybe God has a plan for me with these kids...because I don't want to leave there.
Congrats to all who have passed and are now waiting to pass.
