Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Hello all,
I'm Amanda, I graduated the PN program in December and took/passed my boards June 14...I had to wait because in KY I had to have a 120 hour internship prior to taking the boards...
I've worked in geriatrics for 2 years as a CNA, I'll hopefully be working at VA as a LPN and I am currently in a LPN-RN bridge program...Looking forward to working as a RN in a neonatal unit someday

Best of luck to everyone

~Amanda

Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Hi, I'm Christine I graduated May 23rd and haven't taken my boards yet. Heh, no money to register for it yet, though I do have my provisional license as an RNA. I have no job lined up as of yet and that has me worried. I really want to work NICU and hope like heck I can get a job in one, and at this point I almost don't care where LOL. Ok thats not true, I do care where.

Congrats on everyone who has passed boards so far. I hope to register and get my ATT next month, and test by August. Even though study wise, I feel like I've forgotten more than I knew.

Hi, I'm also in KY and I'm having difficulty finding that first RN job I think because of the clinical internship we have to do. Good luck getting the job with VA, get your foot in the door :-) Which LPN-RN program are you going to?

Christine

Hello my name is Petrina and I graduated this year in May for the LPN program. I live in California and I am waiting on my approval for my application to take my test(NCLEX). It's a four to six week process to approve the application in California since the state has so many applicants. Anyway I switch careers from being a computer tech to nursing and I am exciting and worried at the same time about the nursing industry.

I will be on the (post-op) surgical floor, and we also have all of the endocrine kids. Also, they just added an epilepsy monitoring unit, for overnight monitoring and for the brain mapping they are doing. I expressed an interest in that, so they will cross-train me in that unit as well. I can't wait to get started!

So, tell me about you...

Holli, RN
What a coinsidance, I have epilepsy. I have taken meds for 50yrs. I have to say that having a hysterectomy helped tremendously because after that I didn't have the ups and downs of a hormonal change every month. I have even been able to stop one med totally and cut another med in half! And this is thanks to my neighbor who is a doctor.
Oh I could really tell you some true stories of the things that have happened. It was like a wild ride since the age of 11 when the hormones got crazy. I was actually seeing colors!
Anyway I got married, I have 2 children, got my nursing degree (not nursing at the present, but still want to at times).
Write me back if you like.

Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Sorry I got off the track. I took the RN prereqs but missed it by .3 of a point to stay in the RN program so I went to the LPN and passed that with ease back in 1993.
I have thought about going back to finish. Maybe later.

Can I post here even if I' am from another country?

Hi everyone, my name is Christopher and I' am from the Philippines. Graduated BSN last March 29,2008 then took my board exam last June 1 & 2, 2008 Currently, while waiting for the results which will be due by the month of August, Im taking my masteral degree major in Med/Surg. Also I will be applying for NCLEX as soon as my requirements will be complete and start reviewing for NCLEX because I want to be my girlfriend who happens to be in California now. She was my classmate here and I miss her so much and she's the only reason why I will be applying for NCLEX

Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Of course you can post here. We're a very multicultural group at allnurses.com. Congratulations on completing your BScN. I would recommend that you do some reading of the threads on the International Forum about emigration to the US, particularly these:
http://allnurses.com/forums/f75/new-...us-295954.html
http://allnurses.com/forums/f75/time...on-314316.html
http://allnurses.com/forums/f75/cali...le-306479.html
http://allnurses.com/forums/f75/visa...ns-195732.html

There are also many threads on the Phillipines Nursing Forum that discuss the sorts of things you're likely to have questions about.

If you would like to have questions about emigration and licensing answered, the International Forum is where you must go for those.
