Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Hi, I'm Jennie. I am an LPN at a LTC but I am getting my RN in May and am hoping to get a job at a hospital. I love being a nurse, but I know LTC is just not for me. I've worked in LTC on and off for close to 8 yrs and it's getting very boring and repetetive. So, that's me.

Yes a CNA can perform chest compressions a CNA can manipulate an ambu bag, that is, if they are properly trained; that is why they are trained q. 2 years to renew their cards.

A CNA cannot administer cardiac drugs, but can put electrodes or pads on the patient, as long as a licenced person recognizes proper placement of...

So is appropriate yes a CNA can participate in a code, just as long as they can function in an emergency. Hey, their are many nuses that shy away from codes.

Thank you for the additional information........It is always good to learn new things......I was going on the experience I had. I now know that CNA's are able to assist in a code.

Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Hi everyone!

I am Rebekah. I graduated from a BSN program in December and passed boards a couple of weeks ago. I am working in a 600+ bed hospital on the med-surg telemetry floor. I just finished nursing orientation last week and so I am starting the hands-on orientation this week.

Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Hi, I am Erin, I graduated in Aug of 07 and have worked at a local mental health facility since then. Did a short stint at a LTC facility in between too. Looking around for another job. Want to work in more of physical illness, than mental illness for a change. Almost forgot, I am an LPN working towards my RN.

Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Hello everyone. My name is Sherry and I was an LVN for 13 1/2 years and graduated from the LVN to RN transition program last May, passed my boards the first week of June of 2007 and have tried ICU (hated it), Psych Hospital (hated it) and ended up in Home Health where I have been working since October of 2007. I was just made Branch Manager of one of our offices and I am kind of scared of the responsibility that goes with it but am willing to give it a try. Everyone is great to work with and the pay is good. I am currently working toward my BSN. I am 2 prerequisites away but they are really hard ones. Chemistry kicks my butt and I hate writing with is what English 2 is. I was also diagnosed with ITP and have to watch that. I think it is stress related. I just need to learn to chill. My dream job is working with women or children but am not ready to work in a hospital just yet. Home health has such freedom with your schedule.

Smile Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Hello everyone,

My name is Karina, I just graduated from an ADN program in December 2007, took RN boards Feb. 28th and found out I passed on March 4th! at 75 questions! . I was working as a student nurse during nursing school in a Surgical ICU, and have been hired on the same unit as an RN...will start work April 28th. I've been on allnurses since 2005 and it has helped me through it all. I'm excited about starting work but I'm also a bit scared, but that's normal.

Remember: Nurses always say it's "sink or swim" so just try your hardest to keep swimming!

Karina, RN

Exclamation Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Hi. I'm Jennlee. Passed My Boards Last Sept. Haven't Worked Due To Newborn Being Born! About To Start On A Pre And Post Surgical Floor In June.... Am Very Nervous About This! Being A Year Out Of School Without Studying Or Keeping Up With The New Nursing Trends Is Frightening Me! If Anyone Has Done Or Knows About Pre And Post Surgery - What Types Of Cases Will I See That Would Be Lovely. Thanks So Much.
