Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Hi, I'm Eileen and I "graduated" to this forum on August 17th. Whoopee, I'm finally a GPN! I have a temporary license, and am awaiting my ATT while I search for a job.

Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Hi,
I'm a new RN (received my license about a month ago) working on a surgical unit in a 228-bed hospital. My last night on orientation will be Wednesday and then I'll be on my own. I'm still struggling to adjust to it all-- at this point I am not sure if it was worth it. Being a nurse seems unbelievably demanding and exhausting, and I'm really not sure how long I will last on this unit. I also have four kids under ten at home. Anyway, AllNurses is a great source of comfort and information for me!!

Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Hi all!
I'm Cindi, I graduated in February, took boards in April, passed with 76 questions, YAY! I am currently working in a small Iowa hospital. Nursing is wonderful, rewarding, and nothing like clinicals.LOL
I've worked as a nurse for 4 months, and I'm still finding ways to tweak my day!

Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Hey all, my name is Desiree, I live in Boston and I graduated from an ADN program in June, took the boards July 17th 2007, passed with 75 questions. Started working as an RN in a community health center in August. It's been 3 weeks and it's challenging. Had to relearn how to give shots with what needle and how much etc. how to swab a throat for strep, doing tons of pregnancy tests for young girls....that's sad. Have to do tons of teaching for asthma control, std control, vaccinations. Then we have nurse visits....everything is computerized so learning that....we are connected to a Big hospital which is good as I may transisition there after a year. I am married with one daughter.
all the best to all of us out there in our first year.....
allnurses is the best site, got me through nursing school

Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Hi everyone!
My name is Nicki. I am a new RN just 2 days off orientation. I am all alone and very nervous at times. Do you guys/girls have any pointers to decrease my anxiety and to help my nights go a little better?
I work on a cardiac unit in the critical care block.
Any tips and tricks would be great!
Trying to smile......

Talking Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

I'm Dana, I work on a trauma.post-surgical floor in a level 1 trauma center. I graduated May 2006 and passed my boards. I am so glad those are over with. Good luck to anyone taking the boards soon or interviewing for jobs. Get a lot of reat the night before and do deep breathing if you get nervous. And remember we've all been there or will be there eventually.
