Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Hi everyone! I am Missy from Southern California. I just moved here and started orientation last week for a children's hospital. I graduated from an ADN program in March 2005. I started working on a cardiac step-down unit in Florida prior to moving...it wasn't my cup of tea. I was an LPN for ten years prior to doing a bridge program. I did pediatrics for six years before the bridge program. It is nice to see all the others just graduating and starting their career. Good luck to everyone!
Missy

Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Hello everyone, I'm a new nurse also, 10 months into it and already the experienced nurses are telling me I can't say I'm a new nurse anymore. I passed my boards March 24th 2005. I live in Indiana and work on a cardiac telemetry unit. I'm 24 with no kids and not married so right now my job is my life.

Dont be nervous...you will be fine. The biggest thing any new nurse can do, and I had to learn this just this year, is make the patient laugh and the patient will be your best friend.

Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

What I found out a little too late is ...as a new nurse, your preceptor makes your job and your career for that matter. I had a terrible preceptoring experience....16 in 4 months due to personnel leaving, transferring to other floors or mismanagement. If you get one, you are doing good,

Hi! I'm Francine. I graduated in May of this year and have been working on a cardiac/telemetry floor. I really love it! I learn tons of new things all the time. I have always been told the first year is horrible. But I have had a great experience thus far. Occasionally, I have had horrible days but overall I haven't felt extremely overwhelmed. I also work with awesome nurses that have helped me learn what I needed to know.
