Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Hi everyone! My name is Jessica, and I just found out yesterday that I passed my boards! I'm starting work on Monday on a cardiothoracic surgery unit (this hospital separates medicine and surgery units). I'm quite nervous, and I think I'll be coming to this board often for a bit of advice and support! Congrats and good luck to all the other new nurses!

Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Hi Everyone, My name is Rachel, I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I took my CRNE (our version of the NCLEX) on June 8th and passed! I worked on a neurosurgery/ trauma floor as a graduate nurse from April to September and then I was hired on to the ICU at my hospital. So I just finished a 7 week theory course and I'm now heading into 5 weeks of clinical in the ICU, then I'll be working there full time.

Hi Everybody-
My name is Cary and I passed my boards in July and am about to finish my last two days of "preceptorship" in CCU. I am nervous to go it alone but have had some great preceptors for the last three months. Glad to know that I am not the only one going into some very difficult fields right out of school (and feeling nervous about it) and want to wish everybody the best of luck!!!:

Smile Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Hi Holli!! My name is Olivia. I am a LPN in a Long Term Care Facility. I only usually see RN's on here. I received my license July 2004. In 2 months I was promoted to Critical Care Coordinator of one whole unit. This was the craziest thing I could have done but it proved to be a good thing because I learned so much more about nursing than just passing pills as most of the people here would call it. I have experience in management, assessment, Paperwork, and the infractructure of how a long term care facility is ran from MDS' to care plans to the patient, that I would not have had if I would have not taken the chance for this position. I am currently attending the LPN to BSN through the University of Indiana. Still have a long way to go for that but the RN's on here provide me with so much information that I can use for the rest of my nursing career. Thank You so much and it is a pleasure meeting everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Hello all! I graduated last December, so I'm still quite new to the whole nursing thing. After I finished with orientation and my intership, I got to work on my own. So officially, I really have only been working as an RN for 7 months. I would love to chat with anyone about their first year experiences as a nurse or any other subjects. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Hello,
I am Tina, I just started almost 4 months into a LPN 1 year program. I am doing well in most of my studies but do struggle with the NPP1 (critical thinking) Could anyone recommend a NCLEX book or something to help me.
I love school and it has been a bit stressful but in the end well worth it.
Thanks for listening.
Tina

Re: Let's introduce ourselves...

Hello everyone...I took boards on June 28, 2005 and got notice of my license on July 6. Being a new RN is MUCH tougher than I thought it would be! I am an ASN RN working on my BSN. I came to this site as a class assignment...but I think it will be cool, so I'm glad I found it. Well, a little about me...I graduated May 5, started my internship May 23, took boards June 28, got married July 23, bought a house August 2, and started my BSN degree on Aug 28! Temporary insanity or what? Needless to say, I am a little overwhelmed. I guess I thought I was superwoman or something. Unfortunately, I have found my first few months of nursing to be a frustrating and disheartening experience. As with most nursing jobs, we are chronically understaffed with way too many patients to take care of properly. I am hoping I will like it better once I learn the job role better and have adjusted to my new life, school, and career. This has been a good experience in that I have learned what my limits are! I am looking forward to interacting with new nurses and gleaning knowledge from experienced nurses.

Lisa, RN

You know what you need Lisa.. you need to have a baby. That would round it all out. I don't think you have enough going on!
