can kcl 40 meq in 1000ml @ 150/hr & k phos be ran together? or too much k at one time? please clarify. thanks.

I would clarify that order just because it does seem like that is a lot of potassium to me. Also if you are giving that much potassium it should probably be given through a PICC or central line.

If your K phos is 15 mEq in 50 ml, as ours is, and you're running it at a rate less than 10 mL an hour you're probably fine. Our policy is no more than 60 mEq/L peripherally and as much as 1:1 centrally. Of course, K+ containing infusions are high risk and should always be double checked.
