job decision

Hi, I've been an RN for a year now but have only worked for about less than a year in a pediatrician's office. I didn't use many skills there, but loved the atmosphere, hours, and ease on my body. I moved to another state and applied at several facilities. I've been offered a job on a medical floor at a good size hospital where I will work 7-7 days. They say my preceptor will not have her/his own patients, they will exclusively precept me for approximately 7 weeks, and being that I'm in California, the ratio is 5:1. I accepted the job and feel it probably will be great experience, but I'm afraid of how my body will handle 12 hour shifts. My feet and back in particular. Now I've been called for an interview at a clinic for the homeless, migrant workers, no insurance, and medicaid patients. They see about 250 pt's a day and have about 8 providers. It's 8-5, M-F. I'm going to the interview to make sure the hospital position is the right decision (went to another while I was thinking about the hospital position and decided the hospital would be better for me), but if I think this clinic would be more my style (never wanted to be a hospital nurse, but want good training), if I tell the hospital I decided not to work there, am I blacklisted from ever working there? I did tell them I would and I like to keep my word, but I need a job that I like and doesnt cause me pain.
Thanks for any advice.

Re: job decision

Go with your instincts on this one. If you dont think you can take the physical demands of the hosp. then I would look at the clinic. The hospital is a brutal place and sometimes I think the old bod just cant take anymore but thats where I am happiest. You have to do whats right for you and no I dont think they will "blackllist" you but they may have to think harder about you when and if you apply there again....
