Job Advice

Hi Everyone! I am a new grad and I was recently offered a position on the CVDOU. I graduated in Dec of 07 and this has been my only offer so far so, I accepted the position. Then, a week later, one of my top choices finally called me in for an interview and I was offered a position on the PCU (which is the area I am actually interested in). Now, I find myself in a difficult situation. Is it unprofessional of me to take the second job even though I know it is a better fit for me? If I take the second, should I call the first to decline the offer or is e-mail acceptable? I am having a really hard time with this. Any adivce would be greatly appreciated .

Re: Job Advice

I would take the 2nd job, if it is really the job you wanted. But you must call the hiring MGR of the 1st job and be completely honest. You can never go wrong with telling the truth and person to person is always better than email.

I am assuming you have not started the 1st job yet? If you have you must give the proper two weeks notice, most likely they will let you end immediately as why keep you in orientation/training if your leaving in 2 weeks.

FYI---accept job 2 officially before you leave job 1. God forbid something happens and you end up with No job!~!
Congrats.

Re: Job Advice

I would also accept the second job. It will likely make you much happier in the long run. Plus, if you haven't started working the 1st job, it shouldn't be too big of a deal (just tell them asap). Good luck and congrats on the job!
