after nearly two decades of wanting to be an RN

Hi,

I'm finally a new RN and finally in the Army nurse corps and finally on the unit and nearly off my preceptorship...

I'm on the midnight shift and on the ortho unit and nice as the staff and patients are...I am very let down and deflated.

Thing is, after all those years working as a cna and as a patient care technician in medical/surgical and on tele and in a clinic and in rehab I'd been so busy taking care of patients and so busy during my shifts and I found it really fulfilling now ...edit to sumarize:

My inconsistant midnight shift schedule is just bugging me.

Thanks for letting me vent.
Gen

First of all, congratulations! Second, do you think you would be happier in a different area? My hubby is military, so I will assume that like him you are on orders? If so, does that mean you are put into a very specific "slot" and cannot move to a different area of the hospital, someplace that you might find more invigorating and challenging? I hope that you find your spark, because it sounds like you have a lot to offer as a nurse!

Hello Dalesgirl,

Yup, I'm on orders and ....edited to summarize:

My inconsistant midnight schedule is just bugging me.
