Ok, I just got my LPN, I have two semesters left for my RN. I have lived in the same state and mainly the same area my whole 26 years. I really want to get out and travel. Soooo here is my question....

Would it really hurt my ability to get jobs if I want to move around every 6-9 months. I thought about moving somewhere to start with, gaining my experience and THEN doing travel nursing but I am really itching to do this while I can (before relationships, etc). I guess I am just busting out and I want to experience this thing called a career and the ability to be on my own and move, etc, but I don't want to hurt my career.

Some background to consider. I am a very responsible person and very NOT spontaneous so a lot of thought would go into this. Financially, planning, all that. So I would never do this without a lot of thought and planning. Which is exactly why I am asking advice...

Any thoughts?

well, here's my opinion: as long as you finish your RN you will pretty much be able to write your own ticket whichever direction the wind blows....
i feel the same way, i'm 27, done with school in february and have an itch to get out of the desert. i plan to finish and move somewhere coastal (with a good new grad program and possibly some relocation assistance) and work for a year and then take travel assignments. we're young, unattached, we can do these things. i don't think it will hurt you in the long run to try a few places, a few jobs. lots of nurses change jobs or cities quite a few times prior to finding their niche.
