It has been 14 years since I graduated from my BSN program.

I graduated with a 2.87 GPA.

I want to go back for my MSN but am finding that I need a 3.0 or higher at most institutions.

Will a school not even look at your application if you have less than a 3.0?

I have taken college courses since getting my BSN and I have a 4.0 with all of those classes BUT most schools only want the GPA or transcripts from your undergraduate degree.

I wish I could go back and change some things from the ages 18-22

I would contact the program coordinator at the school that interests you and ask if you can take one or two grad courses as a special admit student. That way, if you do very well in those courses, they will see that you have the ability to do well at the grad level and will take that into consideration when you apply.

I agree with SoftballMama - try to get a provisional admission and then go for it.

I would be fine with a provisional admission if that was necessary to 'prove' myself. I will contact the recruiter/admissions coordinator on Monday.

I know a woman who was trying to get into my school with a less than 3.0 GPA and she was told to give it a try and that if she scored well enough on the GRE that she would be accepted. So, I really do agree that it would be best to contact the school, do not rule yourself out just based on one measure such as GPA. Good luck!
