Angry unhappy in north carolina

I recently joined this site due to my frustration at work with so many new changes (for the worse) being thrown at us nurses. We recently recieved Magnet Status a few months back promising us better and brighter futures at this facility-but in the two months following our wonderful Magnet Status approval - horrible changes have been made. #1- we are laying off people in non-clinical areas. #2 this includes housekeeping- to top it all off -now we have also been told that nurses are resposible for room cleaning and bed stripping, etc. #3 our price for food here has increased and they refuse to give employees a discount anymore if they don't using payroll deduction. #4 they have recently been sued for wrongly paying a certain dept. and have to repay them back. Is anyone else having this problem???

And this facility has magnate status?

I was under the impression that obtaing this status required that the facility be very supportive of nurses and that a facilities were extensively questioned regarding their treatment by the facility before magnate status is granted. Were you and your co-workers interviewed or surveyed?

Am I mistaken about how magnate status is obtained?

You are not wrong on the requirements of magnet status - we were interviewed and at that time we were very happy here, things didn't start changing until two months afterwards. I would love tosee magnet come back because we would surely lose our status.
