Question PACE programs (LIFE programs)

Is anyone familiar or work for a PACE (program of all inclusive care for elders) or LIFE (living independently for elders)? I am new to working with the program and would love to hear any input.

Re: PACE programs (LIFE programs)

I would like to know if anyone is working with this project. I am currently working with a new program that we are getting underway and would like to know others' experience in working with this program.

Smile Re: PACE programs (LIFE programs)

I just got a job at ElderPlace in Seattle. We use the PACE model. It is really amazing. I'm still learning the whole system which will take a year to get to know, but for now I think its great, especially for the future of our population and healthcare. Feel free to message me.

I am with a ListServ and saw some answers from that facility. I would love to hear your experiences with this program.

Re: PACE programs (LIFE programs)

I work in LTC and I'm not sure I'm crazy about pace. Having a resident on Pace doesn't make my job any easier. In fact it seems to make it harder. The pace residents are often the ones that should have been moved from AL to NSG but because they are on PACE they seem to stay AL forever. Which means you have several NSG appropriate residents in a large assignment of AL residents. PACE doesn't really help you as a Nurse when they take the residents for a couple of hours a day. If they are going to be at PACE from 10am-12:30pm you can be sure that the PACE DR is going to change all those 12pm meds to 1pm because they are not going to pass out meds for you!
I don't mean to rain on the PACE parade as a whole because I know that it helps the CNA's out somewhat and it does help out a facility out financially.

I've also had some craziness from our PACE Dr/ PACE RN such as wanting us to reuse a straight cath kit. Fine if you are at home but not at Germ central LTC Facility. Our unit manager told them that was fine if they wanted to come up and teach our resident to do it.
