My Med cart is a magnet, how about yours?

OK, I have been in LTC over 20 years and just started a new career at a great place. It's been a while since passing meds and having a med cart, but I am beginning to believe they have magnets in them.
For the past fews days, I've been orientating on a hall that has wanderers, dementia and tons of wheelchairs. Well at any given time, I'm surrounded by 4-5 residents in wheelchairs who talk to me at the same time. Not only that but, they constantly bump the cart then pull away- just like magnets.
Well yesterday I was orientating on the other hall and would'nt you know it, not only did I have new magnetic residents, but the original ones were also attracted to this cart. The CNA's were laughing too hard to help me out, so I locked the cart and went into a patients room to give them meds.
When I came out the "crowd" managed to move that cart 2 doors down!
I was thinking it might have something to do with all those stainless/ titanium knees, hips, shoulders and plates. Just a thought.........
Have a great day.

LOL... Mine does that too. Maybe it is a manufactuer defect. Last night I went into a resident's room to give meds and came out and there was 3 ladies waiting for me in their w/c.

It's the same here! Last night it was like 'Convoy'!! I try to interest them in cups of tea, preferably somewhere else but no,they follow me like seagulls after fishing boats. If you are unwise enough to leave your pen on the MAR it is gone when you come back!

WHen I was a CNA I once overheard one of our "more pleasantly confused" ladies watching the med pass and saying to the resident next to her "that woman must make a lot of money selling all those pills"

Wow! You have a fan club and a following! I'm jealous.
Maybe it's your "magentic" personality.

Thanks for the smile this AM.

Maybe when you start your med passes, another nurse can start a snack cart....it would be interesting to see who has the stronger magnetic pull, pills or grape juice & graham crackers??

Re: My Med cart is a magnet, how about yours?

It's just funny, I work with 2 other nurses and they have their own med cart out at the same time, but they all flock around mine.
Ah-ha , so maybe they are the ones who put the magnets in my cart!!!!! Clever, clever playing with the orientee's med cart.
Wait until I go to work in am, I think I'll offer my co-workers some prune juice punch! Nah, I work with really great people- have a great day!

i suffered whip lash once when the over zealous linen cart guy crashed into my med cart. honest. threw me off balance and i landed against the wall. took a couple of ASA and get a good laugh out of it every once in awhile since then.
