MDS/PPS nurses... a roll call

Looking for RN assessment coordinators or any knowledgeable resource people who would be interested in exchanging Qs and As in this forum about the MDS and PPS process.

... got a few questions (scenarios) regarding PPS and MDS not mentioned in the CMS website.

You're input/ideas appreciated and may help some of those in the same field.

You can either send me a private message or enlist yourselves in this thread and we can start rolling.

And no.... I’m not interested in joining the AANAC so no need to post the site. I’m too cheap to pay fees.

I'm not an MDS nurse but am a DON and work closely with the MDS nurse at my facility. I am also very involved with the care planning process and would love to be involved in Q&A concerning the MDS process. We are not a Medicare facility so I have very limited knowledge about PPS. However, Louisiana is preparing to go to case mix this year which I understand is very similiar to the Medicare PPO.

Thanks for your reply squaw nurse. DONs are more than welcome to reply to an MDS/PPS Q&A. Afterall, everyone in LTC nsg. mgt. should have good knowledge in this process (my 2 cents).

I'll send you a private message when I start posting some MDS/PPS Q's.

I am a RNAC. Would be happy to help answer questions if needed. I'm no longer a memeber of AANAC but still got on the listserve for Q & A's. Also have experience as a Surveyor... Interesting isn't it...

I'm looking forward to the MDS Q&A's. I'll be sure to forward them on to my MDS nurse. We need all the help we can get in today's age.

I posted this topic way back in November and gave up on it bcoz of a few responses...

Anyhow, I'll throw in a few questions and see how far it goes. I will name the topic "MDS Q&A 001", 001 being question number 1. Watch for it if ur interested.

talino, I would be interested in participating in the Q&A on MDS. I was MDS cord for 6 years before I changed jobs to give me time with my new grandaughter.

Tell me, did any of the RNAC's in the group ever go for the certification? I worked the 10 modules of the AANAC for their certificate, but for a while there were 2 groups 'certifying' RNAC's. Anyone hear anything else about that? Just curious.
