Getting into school?

I'm in the process of applying to school and was wondering if being a male factored into an admissions decision. Basically, do you think being a male helps to get into school?

No idea Man.
It can't hurt we are viewed as a 'minority'.

Re: Getting into school?

You can run a search on this topic, as it has been addressed several times.... I think some schools do try to fill each class with a target # of minorities, which may be men in some cases. Otherwise, I'd say it depends more on your academic performance and prerequisites.

Re: Getting into school?

I've not seen any preference given to guys over the ladies in any schools that I looked at. If your grades are above average then you should probably have no problem getting into the school of your choice. Good Luck!

Re: Getting into school?

Short version: NO. its all formula based on scores around here. Although, it should be because God knows "women and minorities are encouraged to apply". If you are a middle class white guy, good luck.

Re: Getting into school?

Gender shouldn't play a part in the selection process, as that could be discrimination based on gender, which is illegal under federal law.

Re: Getting into school?

Hmm..I'm a non traditional Hispanic male nurse that just got accepted.

Was it the age?

Was it the race?

Was it the sex?

My moneys on the 3.8 GPA and starting a year before to have all prereqs + some generals fully completed.

Course, I could just be naive...
