Sup Guys!!!!

Hi there everyone, My name is Eddie, I am a 36 year old Florida native that resides in Jacksonville, Fl. who is on the path to starting new in life, yeah late in the game, but it's all good, lol...

I am hoping to meet great people here as well as learn the "REAL" INs and Outs of nursing world and the schooling process...

Well a little about me and my background: I have no previous college, so this will all be a fun challenging adventure for me... The reason I am starting a new so late in life is due to the fact that I have been self employed for most of my career, and a few years back I lost everything, so with no formal schooling (save High School) that did not leave much to fall back on... I did the Mid-Level Management that proved to be so very unsatisfying as well as overseas work in Iraq, Afghanistan and Africa, which I LOVED, a long with some other odds and ends... Now I need to find something More SOLID, something with a foundation... So I decided the RN degree was a good and exciting road to pursue... Plus I heard there is a lot of Travel options for U.S. RNs and since I have been all over the world, and LOVE it, I hope this will help me continue those wonderful experiences...

To be VERY honest with you all, I don't know the first thing about the schooling or what it is I really have to do, I guess that it true for most of us, so hopefully I am not alone there... Anyways, I just walked into my Community College here in Jacksonville and said: "I want to get a RN degree," then started my Pre-Req... I have done 17 Crt so far in my first semester, and once the next term starts up I will kick out another 15 or so... I want to get these done ASAP so it is FULL TIME for me... Currently my GPA is a sad 2.8 and this was due to my Hard Drive crashing and loosing 27 essays that were do for FINALS, out of all the times to do it in the Semester and it does it on the Finals... Well I think I am going to just retake the class cuz I would have got an 'A' instead of the 'C'...

Anyways, I currently have under my belt my:

ENGLISH COMP
HUMANITIES
HUMAN NUTRITION
ALGEBRA
HUMAN GROWTH/DVLPMNT
INTROD SOCIOLOGY

Once I get my 72 Pre-Req Crt done, then I am lost, lol, but I am sure I will, well better to say "I HOPE", I have it all figured out by then ,lol...

Well that is it in a Nut Shell, I am sure I am leaving stull out, but it is 4-something A.M. so I Brain Dead, lol... Anyways, I hope I find a lot of good advice and info here, and meet a lot of good people... If you have Questions please feel free to ask!!!

And as always, ANY help and guidance would be greatly appreciated!!!

Ciao,

Eddie

Welcome to the guys group. I've learned so much just reading the "new posts" on here. I'm a junior nursing student, so if you have any questions or need help on something, let me know. Good luck in all your studies and hope you learn a ton!

Re: Sup Guys!!!!

Hi Eddie,

I am a long time nurse and female, but I welcome you to the boards. Nursing needs more men. Good luck, you will find lots of assistance on this site, just ask.

I am sure you know just how much hard work is ahead of you, be sure to keep in close contact with instructors, educational advisors, and fellow students. Help is generally there for you if you ask.

Good luck.
