Pros and cons of Pyxis (Omnicell)

I have been using 3 different types of Medication dispensing Cabinet in 2 years and I wanted to know if anybody has encountered the same perplexity:

A) Accudose - dispenses medication at your fingertips using passwords. Defaults to monitoring med amount esp narcotics and controlled-meds.
B) Pyxis - has two types: The one which is like the Accudose, in which you have to memorize your password or you can't get in. And the one which uses your fingerprint to easily and safely log in.

Kindly share your experience and your dilemmas (if there are any) regarding these med dispensing cabbies...thanks.

First used Acudose, loved the simplicity and familiarity, as well as ease of reconciling discrepancies. I now use Pyxis, (non fingerprint) and hate it. I don't know if it's just a lack of familiarity, or that it's an old unit, but it just seems more complicated and less user-friendly.

Re: Pros and cons of Pyxis (Omnicell)

Hated Pyxis. Good for keeping stock but difficult to reconcile when errors were made.
Pharmacy made many areas at this facility and nurses were often made to pay for it.
Once an entire box of Demerol 50 mg vials were entered into the pyxis but not actually
stocked. Nurses were yelled at, threatened, given urine tests, and then the pharmacy tech
admitted he forgot to stock the drug. No actions were taken against him. Seems accidents
happen when it comes to pharmacy.
