Went into the ED right out of school, sort of goes with the Army side. Hoping to continue with Critical Care or Or. Really found Med/Surg dull during school.

Were you a Combat Medic in the AMEDD?

BTW, if you found Med/Surg boring most likely will find the OR boring, too. I'd bet you'd like working in the ICU, or CCU.

30% ER and ICU. While not a majority, still the largest two categories.

Yep, most male RNs seem to lean towards the technical side of nursing, i.e. ER, ICU, , Stepdown/PCU, CRNA

... however, nothing wrong with a male nurse in Med/Surg, or any of the other areas

I am currently working in Telephone triage center in NC. I just began Grad school towards MSN and hope to begin working as clinical instructor at ADN program in the fall part-time until a full time faculty position opens. (I have worked in ED,ICU, Most of my time, but have also worked in IV therapy, nursing home(as an ADON), home health and corrections nursing(medium custody state prison.)

ER/Trauma...treat 'em and street 'em. Got to love the flow. Are there disproportionate numbers of ER, ICU, CICU, etc. nurses that are veterans as compared to other specialties or is it just me?

It's not a stereotype with my school. I'm one of 2 men in a class of 40. Both of us are going ICU-->CRNA.

You present an intersting question that would be a good Thread starter.

Thank you for your military service! BTW, can you say... 66HM5? Have you considered pursuing RN-BSN, then becoming an officer in the Army Nurse Corps?

Another Army Vet, HOOAH!

Can you say, 66F? How about going to the AMEDD CRNA program in San Antonio, TX [FT Sam Houston]?
