All of the above. Volunteered for hospice and nursing home, which is what got me.

Do you intend to become a nurse manager? I've tried charge nurse but some of the ladies sometimes throw hissy fits and don't offer respect in turn, so I am currently refusing--but I prefer patient care, anyway.

Have you experienced NEGATIVE discrimination as a nurse or nursing student? Yes, a few ladies from time to time as above. Always one or two people who are grating, but they are usually that way with everyone. But I've experience no sex discrimination that I know of.

Have you experienced POSITIVE discrimination as a nurse or nursing student? Only when lifting power is needed at the bedside. There is a Code 6 at my hospital--which means all available men pls show up immediately to assist.

I had to work to earn my respect. And at times I still run into people who meet me and think I'm just some wannabe hot shot kid.
