Hey everybody, I'm a new CNA, and pre-nursing student working 40 hours on a med/surg floor in an extremely busy local hospital, and by the end of the day, my feet are killing me, no matter what sneaker I wear. I'm wondering about trying some of the nursing shoes available for men. Does anybody have any suggestions? Are those clogs comfortable at all? I would appreciate any input. Thanks.

I have been in school for two years now and working on a med-surg floor for two years now. I have found that what works best for me are the Gel type insoles. If you are looking to buy new shoes, I have found that New Balance walking shoes are great, though I still buy new insoles to help.

Been there, done that!!

I am a 1st year RN, and having worked as a PCT, CNA, and SN, I can tell you that NIKE SHOX are by far the most comfortable sneaker I have ever worn. I currently work in a Neonatal ICU, and I'm on my feet all night (12 hours). When I'm wearing them, my feet never hurt. They are pricey...($75-100) but worth it. I do have a pair of Klogz, which I wear when I go to the OR, and they are pretty good, but I always go back to the SHOX. Just try a pair on. I promise you'll love them. Good luck!!

You also might want to try Crocs.........they make them in men's sizes too, and they are THE most comfortable shoe I've ever worn, bar none. I even gave up my old favorites (New Balance) for these. I can buy 2 pairs for the same or less than I used to pay for a good pair of New Balance, and switch them off & on, and they'll last me as long as the more expensive shoes. They weigh absolutely nothing, have massaging insoles and comform to your foot, plus they're hypoallergenic and germ-resistant.........AND you can just hose 'em off whenever they get dirty.

In fact, I can't say enough good things for Crocs. I changed to these a couple of months before I quit my med/surg job, and my legs and feet almost completely stopped aching, even after a long shift without sitting down more than a couple of times. (I quit for other reasons than my aches and pains. ) Now they're the only shoe I wear, period; I have a pair for the garden, a pair to go out in, and of course my white ones for work (although I won't be returning to the bedside anytime soon). They may be uglier than sin, but at my stage of life the name of the game is COMFORT, pure and simple.

Im male, 1.97 cm tall and a weight of 135 kg (and Im an european too, and dont give a rats *** about your american units ) - and for those of you who dont care to convert that to feets, inches and lb´s, its sufficient to say that I´m big - quarterback big!

Before, I usually wear thick, soft rubber soled sports sandals (Reebok, Merrell etc) but I have switched to Crocs. The most comfortable work shoe in the universe. They tend to be broad, and workmates to me with slender feets dont like them for that reason.

They are soft and almost a little "squishy" - so I think that people with a need for a more stable shoe wouldnt like them either.

But for me and my weight (shock absorbance is everything) they are absolutely unbeatable!

A 1.97 cm quarterback could not even play midgit football in the US. Heck, I was 56cm when I was born. Most quarterback in the US are greater than 183cm.

I love my Nursemates Quark! It's a unisex shoe that is so comfortable!! I have to wear the white but they sell many different colors. Try them!!

Hmm.. Damn.. Not very thrustworthy for a nurse to stumble on the units like that, is it?
