interview shoes

Hey guys, whats a good shoe for interviews? I have some black dress shoes that kill my feet as they are about a size too small. They fit at one time, but I've had them for about 20 years. I went looking today, but could'nt decide. I found some brown ones I kind of liked, but I think they are more casual. I also found some comfortable ones at k-mart, but I think I should get some good ones that I can wear on special occasions and stuff too. I'm thinking it probably does'nt matter too much as I usually just wear dockers and a shirt ant tie. I also should have gotten some before now as my interviewing is about over. BTW, I have a job starting tomorrow at a LTC facility, but have an interview later in the week at a correctional facility where I would rather work...

I've always liked Kohls for dress shoes. Theyre always on sale, and always look pretty good. Whatever you decide to go with, just make sure they're clean and polished, and nobody will notice.

Re: interview shoes

Update: I did get some nice shoes from Kohls and got the job. I now have 3 part-time jobs. Anyway, problem is I think they are more or less dress shoes for interviews, special occassions, ect. I have orientation all this week at the new job. I'm supposed to dress Business casual or can wear scrubs. Think its ok to wear a nice shirt, dockers and tennis shoes or should I wear the dress shoes? I don't really want to buy another pair right now and my scrubs are all white. I guess I could get some more scrubs as I'm going to need some other color tops anyway.

It depends how shiny they are. I'd go with the dress shoes. I guess I can take credit for getting you hired...

Eh, it's like a rule where I come from:

Nothing short of a good suit (I own a good three-piece suit with a pocket watch ), tie and spit-polished leather shoes for an interview. Hair better be cut, face better be shaved.

Go easy on the aftershave but don't forget the deo.
Last but not least, a hat (if appropriate) and handkerchief.

cheers,

Re: interview shoes

I'm amazed at how many posts are on the male nurses site about wardrobe...cracks me up. I hope the interview went well. The advice I always give is make sure you are comfortable with what you are wearing and don't worry about it.

I would not be comfortable in a 3 piece suit like someone else mentioned but in slacks and a dress shirt with dress shoes I would. And you're always safe with scrubs for a nursing interview (unless you are going for management).

I can't remember the last time I saw a guy in a three-piece suit and pocket watch!! Hats are making a comeback. I actually went out and bought a slick driving cap and fedora to wear with my generic NY peacoat.

Just about any girl will tell you there is a strong correlation between nice new shoes and good things happening in your life. That's why we buy so many....
