I have a bit of a random question. I live in England and my brother is about to finish his RN and i wanted to get him a graduation gift. I was thinking a lapel watch but im not sure if it is Gender Appropriate in the US. Could any please let me know, and suggest any possible gift suggestions. Thank you guys for any help you can provide.

This is America, 2007 There no such thing as gender appropriate anymore. Unless I am mistaken, nursing used to be gender inappropriate for men.

Stethoscope - pair of good nursing scissors - pair of hemostats - Something to hook stethoscope onto belt - Small flashlight or penlight to check pupils -

High quality shoes! He's gonna be on his feet for a lot of hours! He might also appreciate scrubs that don't look like his nursing school uniforms.

Thank you for the suggestions, what should i look for in a pair of scissors/hemostats/Stethoscope(for those non nurses what is a hemostat). and as for scrubs are there any websites anyone could suggest? Thank you guys again

A Hemostat is a pair of clamps - they are very useful.

I don't know what scrubs are available in the UK - google scrubs.

Nice of you to think that way. All of the above would be great ideas. Where I work all the OR staff received gifts (colorful, monogrammed handbags) from our managers. It was a nice thought but what could I do with it, as a man? It was the thought that counted but....

Just letting you know that I think it is great you are thinking of what will be useful and acceptable to him instead of just getting something. He should be proud to have you as a sister.
